Producing a custom tea light box is what TeaLightBox.com is all about, in this case, it’s a letter and corresponding animal that make for a wonderful tea light box.
For this custom tea light box demonstration, I decided to use a white owl and an orange giraffe but as you’ll see, they all have the same origins but a totally different esthetic simply by using a different combination of design elements.
Due to the fact that TeaLightBox.com produces these items on-demand, your design options are endless when it comes to what you have on each side of a custom tea light box.
Whether it’s an image, a sentence, letters or silhouettes of whatever you want, TeaLightBox.com can make it for you and ship it flat packed, ready to be assembled by you and then painted however you wish.
There is no “easy” or “hard” design element, for consistency though, I decided to use the same design element twice, unlike previous videos where each side of the custom tea light box was different.
It doesn’t cost any more or less to produce all the same or different for the ultimate personalization of your very own custom tea light box.
For this project, I knew my friends liked owls and giraffes respectively, so designing a custom tea light box with their preferences was quick and easy as we already have the material, the laser and the design aspects of this solved!
The white paper you see peaking from under the 1/8″ or 3 mm thick MDF is masking, this removed the smoke stains on the bottom but in this case, this was to be painted anyways so it really wasn’t needed for the production of a custom tea light box.
Whether we made one or a million owls, they would all be exactly the same as we use our high-powered industrial wide-format Austrian CNC Trotec 400 flexxx laser to produce a custom tea light box.
All the design elements that will make-up this custom set of tea light boxes have come together, you can see some of the small pin holes in the bottom where the interlock to keep it all together fell through the table, just that much less to pick-up off our CNC laser bed.
Both giraffes and owls look great, TeaLightBox.com could have mirrored them or done a mix and match, whatever you want, we design and make so you don’t even need to be a designer to come-up with a wonderful gift.
Once the glue is set on all the joining parts of a tea light box, it’s time to let it dry over the course of a few hours, the excess is wiped off but at the end of the day, it really doesn’t matter.
TeaLightBox.com then sticks the tea light box into the paint booth to be painted.
Before I paint a custom tea light box, check out this video so you can see what they look like without any paint on them, adding paint just emphasizes the esthetics wonderfully to make your custom tea light box stand out all the more.
I’m by no means an expert when it comes to spray paint, so I put a little too much on the custom tea light box but no matter, it’s having fun seeing a concept come to life, there is no right or wrong way as a result to paint these.
When I first showed the white owl custom tea light box to the friend who received it, they thought it was made out of acrylic, but nope, plain old MDF painted white.
I do very much like the orange for the giraffe, I found the color of the LED candle really helped to emphasize the letters the best but the white one looked just as amazing.
I really love the contrast of the white and the yellow tea light boxes, they look really cool and although it isn’t the best paint job in the world, it just adds character and personalization.
I didn’t wipe down the excess glue on these tea light boxes on purpose, just to see what it would look like and to me, it’s totally fine either way.
Sticking the LED candle inside of these TeaLightBox.com products and turning it on produces a very nice warm glow.
And turning the lights down in the shop really emphasizes the cut-outs on both tea light boxes as you can see.
At a distance, you really can’t tell that it’s an LED candle over a real flame candle, without any of the safety concerns, LED is by far the best choice for these for durability and safety which is why TeaLightBox.com recommends LED over fire.
The LED candle on the left is a short one while the one on the right is a taller LED candle, both look and function great with their respective tea light box.
