TeaLightBox.com: Officially Open for Business!

I’ve been very busy over the holidays getting TeaLightBox.com ready for orders, from optimizing design files to 3D animations and material selection, starting a business offering an affordable tea light box to the public was quite an undertaking from concept to website.

I had to make the above video because I wanted to show how the boxes came together in real life and how this compares to all the 3D rendered “sides” you see on TeaLightBox.com.

TeaLightBox.com‘s default material for making a custom tea light box is 1/8″ or 3 mm thick MDF.

If you want another material, size or shape, contact us.

The laser we use is our Austrian wide-format industrial laser, a Trotec Speedy 400 flexx which makes quick and precise work of the MDF board which will soon be transformed into a custom tea light box.

In this case, the tea light box will be made-up of four different and distinctive sides, we could have made them all the same or even further customized them with names and dates.

As you can see, TeaLightBox.com is making this box, the design through the sides all on-demand, this is why we are able to offer this level of customization for your custom tea light box.

The only inventory we hold is the MDF (and other materials) used to make a custom tea light box as there is no point in storing a bunch of designs that may just sit on shelves in our shop.

In other words, when you get your shipment of your custom tea light box, it’s made fresh just for you.

This custom tea light box is now finished, typically, TeaLightBox.com would put this in a package and ship it out as/is but I wanted to show you a bit more about how you’ll be putting this together at your end when you receive the package from us.

In the video, I mention that one side is slightly smoky while the other is totally clean due to the masking, we ship with the masking so be sure to remove it before you glue and paint as I did in the TeaLightBox.com video.

Do take special care though, some of these designs are incredibly fragile, there is no need to apply extra pressure on the design, just scrape it lightly with your fingernails and the masking will just come right off.

The design is cut out of the MDF, not engraved, as engraving would not allow light to come through this custom tea light box.

The design options for your custom tea light box are endless, one side can be a tree, another a heart, another a flower and the last one some text to a loved one or a logo for a company function, that’s the power of TeaLightBox.com!

The design elements can be very close, but be careful if you send us a design with very little material holding the tea light box side together as it can break.

AllĀ  you need for final assembly are two rubber bands and some glue, the “going together” part is relatively straight forward, just slot the sides together with the base and put in the insert.

Give the whole custom tea light box a few hours to dry and then remove the rubber bands.

Be sure to remove excess glue before everything dries, it can also be easily scrapped or sanded off if you forget, there is no wrong way to put a custom tea light box together.

Here’s what the finished tea light box looks like after gluing it together, in this case, I put the smoky side inwards so that the outside is clean, but this can also be easily sanded off by hand if you want the MDF clean on both sides.

To hold the insert in place, I just put the glue bottle into the custom tea light box to hold it down while the glue had time to dry.

Awesome custom tea light box ready for action made right here in our TeaLightBox.com shop!

Removing the rubber bands is easy, the whole custom tea light box is stuck together and a little light sanding to remove any glue residue or scraping even with a finger nail is all that’s required to clean the corners a bit.

All that’s needed now is to stick the LED candle inside the custom tea light box and put it on, now you see why it’s a good idea to have the insert in there, it prevents the candle from hitting the edge when carrying it around.

The nice warm glow of a LED candle is about the same as a real candle without any of the safety hazards and it will also last way longer, this one cost me 1.25$ for two and each is good for 240 hours!

If you get bored of looking at only one side, flip it around and you have three other sides to enjoy on this custom tea light box.
